Welcome: AI is not just a writing assistant

9 min
Pete Stevenson, founder of Evolvv Strategies

Hi, I’m Pete — welcome 👋

I use AI across my own business every week — and helping owners put it to work in theirs, along with the systems underneath, is a good part of what I do at Evolvv. This free course answers the question I get asked more than any other: “what should I actually be doing with AI?” Not in theory — in your business, this month, in ways that hand you back real hours.

You’ll go from “I use it for the odd email” to having a written plan for your own business: the six areas where a service business actually spends its time — marketing, operations, client management, creative, admin, and your numbers — and three ways to put AI to work in each one, from things you can do tonight to tools you can own outright.

You don’t need any technical background, and there’s nothing to install to get value from this. If you can describe how your business works in plain English, you can use everything in this course.

One thing worth knowing up front: I wrote the whole path — every explanation and every copy-paste prompt in it. But rather than re-record what brilliant creators have already taught better than I could, I hand-picked the clearest video for each topic and put them where you need them: the module-level ones sit at the top of each module, and a few sit inside the single lesson they belong to. Every one is by an independent creator and is credited with a link to their channel — go give them a follow.

AI is not just a writing assistant

Here’s the misconception this course exists to fix: most owners use AI like a slightly smarter Google. Ask a question, get an answer, maybe have it tidy up an email, close the tab.

That’s real value — and it’s a fraction of what’s on the table. This course is about using AI to run parts of your business: answering prospects while you sleep, turning meeting recordings into follow-ups, reading your numbers and telling you what changed, drafting the invoice chase you’ve been putting off.

The owners who win with AI aren’t the ones with the cleverest prompts. They’re the ones who think in systems, not chat windows — who look at a recurring chunk of their week and ask “what would it take to never do this by hand again?” By the end of this course, that’s how you’ll look at your week too.

What you’ll walk away with

Not a reading list and not a pile of tool recommendations. The deliverable is a plan for your business, written by you as you go, plus the judgment to keep making these calls after the course ends:

A map of your own week

Where AI actually saves you hours — not in theory, in the tasks you personally repeat.

Prompts you can use tonight

Copy-paste prompts for every pillar, ready the day you read them.

A read on what's worth paying for

Which AI platforms earn a monthly fee in your business — and which to skip.

A shortlist of tools to own

The jobs where a tool you own beats a subscription you rent forever.

A 30-day plan

Built one module at a time, finished in Module 7 — your list, in order.

The judgment call

Knowing what to automate, and what stays human no matter how good the tools get.

How this course works

The course has a simple shape: six pillars, three tiers. Each of the six areas where a service business spends its time gets its own module, and inside every module I cover the same three levels of AI leverage. The written lessons carry the spine; the hand-picked videos handle the on-screen walkthroughs. Everything sits in one place, in the order you’d actually work through it:

  1. M0

    Start here

The three tiers, the ground rules, and a ten-minute audit that finds the hours hiding in your week.
  2. M1

    Marketing & customer acquisition

Getting found, following up faster, and winning the work — the pillar that pays back quickest.
  3. M2

    Operations & service delivery

The work itself with less friction: scheduling, meetings, written process, follow-through.
  4. M3

    Client management & CRM

Remembering everything and following up like you have an assistant.
  5. M4

    Creative & content

Ads, social posts, images, and brand assets — more volume, still on-brand.
  6. M5

    Admin & finance

Invoices, books, and paperwork: the 9pm pillar, and the easiest hours to hand over.
  7. M6

    Reporting & data analytics

Understanding your business through its numbers, without a data team.
  8. M7

    Your automation plan

Your shortlist becomes a 30-day plan — plus the honest math on renting a tool versus owning one.

And the three tiers, which come up in every single module:

  • Prompt it — wins you can have today by typing into a chat tool. No setup.
  • Platform it — ready-made platforms with AI built in. You configure, you don’t build.
  • Build it — custom tools you own outright, built with AI itself doing the coding.

The next lesson defines all three properly — they’re the framework the whole course hangs on. And that third tier isn’t a tease for something expensive: when a custom tool is the right answer, the free Build Your Own AI Tools course shows you how to build it yourself, step by step.

How long it takes: 31 short lessons, about three and a half hours of reading all in, with each pillar module running around half an hour on its own. You can take it in one long sitting or one pillar at a time — and jump straight to the pillar that hurts most, because every module stands on its own. The doing is separate and it’s yours to pace: a Tier-1 win can take twenty minutes tonight. Nothing here expires, so read a pillar, go try something, and come back.

What it costs

The course is completely free — no gate, no upsell. What the work costs depends on which tier you use, and this course is free-tools-first: I lead with free tools and free tiers wherever they genuinely do the job, and when something costs money I say so plainly — what it costs, and when it’s worth it.

In practice: Tier 1 runs on the free tier of a chat tool, or the subscription you may already pay for. Tier 2 means monthly platform subscriptions, and every pillar module names the real price of every tool it recommends. Tier 3 costs a few evenings up front and then almost nothing to run — which is the whole argument for owning instead of renting, and Module 7 does that math with you.

One honest promise before we start

Automation compounds what already works — it can’t rescue a process nobody has written down, and it won’t make a decision on your behalf. AI will also hand you a wrong answer in exactly the same confident tone it uses when it’s right, which is why the last lesson in this module sets the ground rules: you review everything before it leaves the building, and you hold the wheel. You are not building a robot business, and nobody credible is offering you one. The realistic prize is an hour a day handed back to the parts of the business only you can do — and that is genuinely worth having.

Key takeaways
  • Expect more from AI than better emails — the wins in this course are systems, not sentences.
  • Learn the shape once: six pillars of your business, three tiers of AI in each.
  • No technical background required — a plain-English description of your business is the only prerequisite.
  • The course is free and free-tools-first; every paid tool it names comes with its real price.
