Welcome & what you'll build

Pete Stevenson, founder of Evolvv Strategies

Hi, I’m Pete — welcome 👋

I use Claude Code to build tools for my own business — small programs that do the busywork so I don’t have to — and this free course teaches you to do exactly the same. The question I get at this point is always the same one: “come on — I can’t code. Am I really going to end up with working software, or with a half-finished mess I can’t fix?” You’ll end up with working tools. I’ve picked builds that are genuinely within reach, and every prompt you need is written out for you.

This course takes you from never having opened a terminal to three real, working tools you own outright — plus the skill to build more whenever you spot a task worth automating. No code experience, no computer-science degree, no agency. If you can describe what you want in plain English, you can build it.

One thing worth knowing up front: I wrote the whole path — every instruction and every copy-paste prompt in it. But rather than re-record what brilliant creators have already taught better than I could, I hand-picked the clearest video for each step and put them where you need them: the module-level ones sit at the top of each module, and a few sit inside the single lesson they belong to. Every one is by an independent creator and is credited with a link to their channel — go give them a follow.

What you’ll walk away with

This isn’t theory. By the end you’ll have three working tools sitting on your own computer, each one built by you in a follow-along module — and three things that outlast them:

Proposal Generator

A short interview in — a polished, branded PDF out.

Client Hub

Every client, note, and appointment — remembered on your machine.

Numbers Dashboard

Your real exports in — one honest page of your business out.

The core skill

Describing what you want so AI builds the right thing the first time.

The plumbing, demystified

GitHub and Vercel in plain English: backups, version history, free hosting.

A playbook for build #4

How to design your own next tool once the course is behind you.

Every one of the three tools is something people normally pay a monthly subscription to rent. You’re going to own yours — and they run on your own computer, for free.

How this course works (this part is important)

This isn’t a normal course where you watch videos and take notes. You’re going to build the real thing, with an AI teammate called Claude Code doing the heavy lifting. Seven short modules, in the order you’d actually do the work — every step in one place, so you’re never hunting across ten tabs for the next piece. Here’s the shape of it:

  1. Module 0 (this one): set up Claude Code on your computer so it can build for you.
  2. Module 1: learn the one skill the whole course rests on — describing what you want clearly.
  3. The build modules: you follow along, one copy-paste prompt at a time, and finish each module with a real, working tool.
1Set upModule 0 — get Claude Code ready
2Learn to driveModule 1 — describe what you want
3Safe homesModule 2 — backups & hosting
4Build ×3Modules 3–5 — three real tools
5Your playbookModule 6 — build your own next

Each module produces something real — a document, a working program, a finished tool — that you actually keep and use. You just follow along, one copy-paste at a time.

How long it takes: 33 short lessons, about four hours of reading — but this is a build, so budget for the doing as well. The module estimates in the sidebar come to roughly four and a quarter hours of hands-on time, and each of the three tool builds is a sitting of about forty minutes. Nothing is timed and nothing expires, so you can stop after any lesson and come back — including months later, when you want to change one of your tools.

What it costs

No surprises and no hidden fees. There is exactly one bill:

~$20/moClaude Prothe AI that builds your tools — cancel any time
$0Everything elseNode, Git, GitHub, Vercel — all genuinely free
$0/moThe tools you buildyours once built, no subscription behind them
No surprises

Roughly $20/month for the Claude plan, and that’s the whole cost. No domain to buy, no hosting fees, no per-tool charges — your tools run right on your own computer. You only need the plan during the weeks you’re building, and you can cancel any time. Let’s get set up.

One honest promise before we start

What you’re building here is internal tools — software for you and your team, living on your own computer. That covers a remarkable amount of the busywork in a small business, and it’s where all three builds live. What it isn’t is a shortcut to software your customers log into: a client portal, a real connection between two of your systems, or anything holding payments or regulated data is a different job with different rules, and this course will tell you plainly when you’ve reached that line rather than letting you walk over it. Everything you learn here still applies on the other side of it.

Coming from the Automate course? And if you’re not?

If you arrived here from “Automate Your Business with AI” — this is the “how” to that course’s “what,” where the custom-build ideas you read about get built for real. And if you skipped it entirely, no problem at all: that course is not a prerequisite. This one starts from absolute zero and assumes nothing.

If you get stuck

Feeling unsure? That’s normal — plenty of non-technical owners have done exactly this. Take it one lesson at a time and you’ll be fine.
