Module 3 · Build #1: The Proposal Generator

Your first real proposal

9 min

Now use it on a real deal — or a realistic one if you don’t have a live prospect today. The tool is built and branded; this is where it earns its keep.

Say the magic words

The whole prompt is two words. The playbook you built in the kickoff takes over from there and runs the interview.

Type this into Claude Code

new proposal

Claude asks its questions one at a time. Answer in plain speech, the way you’d talk to a colleague — no need to sound formal or write full sentences. If you have the client’s website, give it; Claude will read it and fold in what it learns.

Edit like an editor, not a typist

When the draft comes back as text, don’t rewrite it yourself — direct it. You’re the editor; Claude does the typing. Read the draft with a red pen in your head and ask for what you want changed:

  • “The intro is too formal — make it warmer.”
  • “Break the scope into three phases.”
  • “Add a paragraph handling the ‘why not the cheaper option’ question.”

Keep going, one request at a time, until it reads the way you’d say it out loud. When you’re happy with the text, tell Claude to generate the final PDF.

AI drafts, you verify

Every price, date, and promise in a proposal is yours the moment you send it. Claude drafts fast, but it doesn’t know your business rules or your margins. Read the final PDF top to bottom before it goes out — check the number, the dates, and anything you’re committing to. This is the one habit that keeps speed from ever costing you.

What success looks like

A real, finished proposal PDF in your proposals/ folder — verified, on-brand, and done in a fraction of the time it used to take. That’s a working tool, used in anger, on day one.
